Biden Administration To Cooperate In DOJ’s Classified Documents Investigation

The Biden White House is cooperating with the Justice Department after Obama administration documents from when President Joe Biden was vice president were found at a Biden think tank on November 2.

When Biden’s attorneys located the documents at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C., last fall, they notified the National Archives, according to a statement from the president’s special counsel Richard Sauber. Sauber said they found the documents, some of which were labeled “classified,” as they were cleaning out a closet. The documents were turned over to the National Archives on the morning of November 3.

The National Archives notified the Justice Department of what had happened. Attorney Gen. Merrick Garland tasked Chicago-area attorney John Lausch with reviewing the classified documents and determining how they came to be stored in the closet.

Under the Presidential Records Act, both the president and vice president are required to turn over all their documents to the National Archives. A source close to the president said that Biden does not know the contents of the documents that were found.

Former President Donald Trump is currently being investigated for failing to comply with the law as stacks of over 100 classified documents were found at his Mar-a-Lago estate in an FBI search following his administration.

He commented on the Biden documents in a Monday night tweet to his Truth Social account.

“When is the FBI going to raid the many homes of Joe Biden, perhaps even the White House?” Trump asked. “These documents were definitely not declassified.”
