Beto O’Rourke Snaps At Heckler Who Laughed At Uvalde Massacre: ‘Motherf—er, It’s Not Funny To Me’

Beto O’Rourke, a Democratic candidate for the Texas gubernatorial race, shut down a heckler during a rally who laughed as he was sharing the details of a recent mass shooting at Uvalde, Texas, which left 19 children and two teachers dead.

The incident occurred as the former presidential candidate spoke solemnly to a crowd of gathered teachers and parents. The mood was sober as O’Rourke described the children’s injuries and discussed the need for gun control.

Mid-sentence into O’Rourke’s remembrance of the victims, a man can be heard laughing behind the politician. Immediately, O’Rourke turned around and said: “It may be funny to you, motherf—er, but it’s not funny to me.”

O’Rourke running against his Republican incumbent Gov. Gregg Abbott (R). Both candidates have strikingly different political agendas for the state.

In the speech, O’Rourke promised more funding for K-12 teachers. In contrast, Abbott wants less public school funding and more vouchers for parents to take to public schools.
