Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) has not “ruled out” a third bid for the White House in 2024 if President Joe Biden does not seek reelection, according to a memo sent by Sanders’ former campaign manager on Wednesday.

“In the event of an open 2024 Democratic presidential primary, Sen. Sanders has not ruled out another run for president, so we advise that you answer any questions about 2024 with that in mind,” the memo said.

Sanders, an Independent who calls himself a Democratic-socialist, ran as a Democrat in 2016 and 2020 but lost the nomination to Hillary Clinton and Biden respectively.

This news comes after Biden reportedly told former President Barack Obama that he will run again in 2024 and after Sanders, who would be 83 at the beginning of the four-year term, said in 2020 that odds of him putting together another bid were “very, very slim.”
