Appeals Panel Reverses Judge Cannon’s Ruling Restricting Mar-A-Lago Documents: ‘It’s An Abuse’

A three-judge panel from the U.S Court of Appeals reversed an order from Judge Aileen Cannon blocking the Department of Justice from reviewing documents seized during its raid of Trump residence Mar-a-Lago.

The Trump-appointed judge’s decision was smacked down in a withering 29-page decision written by the judges, two of whom were also appointed by Trump.

The panel called Cannon’s opinion an “abuse” and questioned her logic in many instances.

“Here, the district court concluded that [Trump] did not show that the United States acted in callous disregard of his constitutional rights. No party contests the district court’s finding in this regard,” the judges wrote, noting that Cannon failed to consider how or why the former President would have an “individual interest in or need” for the sensitive documents.

The appeals panel called the need to allow federal investigators to examine the documents “self-evident.”
