The Anti-Defamation League, a nonprofit organization that works to stop hate speech against Jewish people, condemned Donald Trump’s campaign for comparing the former president’s recent indictment to persecution under the Nazis.
Trump was charged on Tuesday for his alleged attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. In a statement published on the same day, the Trump campaign stated that “the lawlessness of these persecutions of President Trump and his supporters is reminiscent of Nazi Germany in the 1930s, the former Soviet Union and other authoritarian, dictatorial regimes.”
Following the release of the statement, Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt took to Twitter to denounce the sentiment.
“Comparing this indictment to Nazi Germany in the 1930s is factually incorrect, completely inappropriate and flat-out offensive. As we have said time and again, such comparisons have no place in politics and are shameful.”

The frivolous comparison is just one that Trump has made to push the narrative that he is being charged under a “corrupt Justice Department.” The former president is currently facing three indictments and has been rallying his supporters against the perceived “witch hunt” that his political enemies are supposedly conducting.
“This is nothing more than the latest corrupt chapter in the continued pathetic attempt by the Biden Crime Family and their weaponized Department of Justice to interfere with the 2024 Presidential Election,” the statement continued.
