Democratic candidate Andrew Yang got a few big moments at Wednesday night’s Democratic debate to tell voters that he has a better economic plan than former Vice President Joe Biden – and President Donald Trump.
Yang pointed out that in “rust belt states” mental health issues have “gotten so bad that American life expectancy has declined for the past three years” despite a record breaking economy.

Yang noted that contributions of those like his wife, who stays home to care for their autistic son are not counted in GDP numbers. “That’s the opposite of the truth,” he said, “her work is among the most challenging and vital. The things that matter to… all of us, like our own health, our well being, our mental health, our clean air and clean water, how our kids are doing.”
