Allies Of Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy Vow To Oust Rep. Liz Cheney After Anti-Trump Comments

Multiple top allies associated with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-California) have vowed to oust Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) as further punishment for her outspokenness against former President Donald Trump and his false claims of election fraud.

“There is no way that Liz will be conference chair by month’s end. When there is a vote, it won’t be a long conference; it will be fast. Everyone knows the outcome,” one McCarthy confidant told The Hill.

Cheney has been critical of former Trump, becoming even more vocal after the 2020 president election where Trump falsely claimed that the presidency was stolen from him. “The 2020 presidential election was not stolen,” Cheney tweeted this Monday. “Anyone who claims it was is spreading THE BIG LIE, turning their back on the rule of law, and poisoning our democratic system.”

Cheney was compelled to reaffirm her statement after Trump recently raised the debunked election conspiracy in a statement to supporters. “The Fraudulent Presidential Election of 2020 will be, from this day forth, known as THE BIG LIE!” Trump wrote.

Trump specifically has take on Cheney in the past, saying, “Heartwarming to read new polls on big-shot warmonger Liz Cheney of the great State of Wyoming. She is so low that her only chance would be if vast numbers of people run against her which, hopefully, won’t happen. They never liked her much, but I say she’ll never run in a Wyoming election again!”
