President Donald Trump addressed speculation about his comments to Chief Justice John Roberts after he was caught on camera thanking him after his congressional address.

After Trump’s 100-minute speech to Congress, he was seen on camera talking to Roberts, ”Thank you again. I won’t forget it.”

This interaction was captured on video with clear audio and concerned Trump critics, especially following Supreme Court rulings after his 2020 reelection loss.

A pivotal ruling last year from the Supreme Court determined that former presidents possess criminal immunity for acts made while in office, giving Trump an advantage for his charges related to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Roberts wrote the decision, which protected Trump from criminal charges and allowed him to return to office.

Since taking office, Trump’s new administration has already faced legal battles because of the mass firings and severe federal cuts on foreign aid.

Last week, Trump wrote a post on Truth Social where he referred to journalists as “sleazebags” and said they were “trying to create a divide between me and our great U.S. Supreme Court.”

“They never called my office to ask, of course, but if they had I would have told these sleazebag ‘journalists’ that I thanked him for SWEARING ME IN ON INAUGURATION DAY, AND DOING A REALLY GOOD JOB IN SO DOING! The Fake News never quits!” Trump wrote.
