After Dropping Out Of GOP Presidential Race, Mike Pence Visits Israel To Show Solidarity

Former Vice President Mike Pence is on a visit to Israel this week to show solidarity with the country after the Hamas attack on October 7 that killed 1,200 Israelis.

Pence was invited by Israeli ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon. The former vice president is known as a conservative Christian who has voiced strong support for Israel in the past.

In October, Pence dropped out of the presidential race after failing to gain traction in the GOP nomination fight against Donald Trump.

Pence remained in the single digits in polls and struggled in his efforts to raise money.

“After much prayer and deliberation, I have decided to suspend my campaign for president effective today,” he said at the Republican Jewish Coalition gathering in Las Vegas. “We always knew this would be an uphill battle, but I have no regrets.”

His campaign struggled from the start. Pence started his campaign in third place in the polls with a support of 9% according to 538′s average of national primary polls. The further he progressed into the race, though, his numbers decreased.

The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found that 57% of Americans viewed Pence negatively while just 28% viewed him positively.

Trump is continuing to dominate the GOP primary field.
