After Puerto Rican pop star Bad Bunny dropped an eight-minute video on Instagram endorsing Kamala Harris, political pundits are wondering what effect it will have on the sizable Puerto Rican vote in the swing states.
He captioned the video “garbage” in reference to the speech delivered by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe at former President Donald Trump‘s recent rally at Madison Square Garden.
At the rally, Hinchcliffe referred to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage,” prompting Bad Bunny’s response. The singer has a history of using documentary-style social media posts to promote social issues. In 2022, he posted an 18-minute documentary about corruption in Puerto Rico.
Numerous Puerto Rican celebrities followed Bad Bunny’s lead in endorsing Harris, including Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin and Marc Anthony.
