The Peach State now has one of the highest voter registration rates in the nation. However, it still lags behind states like Maine, New Hampshire and Illinois.
Back in 2016, Georgia began allowing residents to automatically register to vote upon receiving their driver’s licenses.
Since then, the number of registered Georgia voters has increased. In fact, about 67% of new voter registrations came from the automatic voter registration program.
