50% Of Americans Have Been Fully Vaccinated For COVID-19

Fifty percent of U.S. adults have become fully vaccinated as of today, according to White House senior COVID-19 adviser Andy Slavitt.

“This is a major milestone in our country’s vaccination efforts,” says Slavitt. Slavitt also noted during a White House briefing that only 1% of Americans were vaccinated at the beginning of President Joe Biden’s term in January.

He added: “Find whatever reason you want to get vaccinated. For those not sure yet, do your homework, talk to your doctor or your pharmacist. All concerns are reasonable, but do yourself a favor: Don’t let some guy on Facebook answer your question when good answers are available.”

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, over 130.6 million Americans are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of this morning.

Biden stated earlier this month that he wanted 160 million U.S. adults to be fully vaccinated by July 4. 49.4% of the U.S. population aged 12 and above have received at least one dose, and 39.3% of the population aged 12 and above is fully vaccinated.

Biden has stated that by the end of this month the U.S. will have enough vaccine supply for every adult American.

Additionally, the Pfizer vaccine has been approved for use in younger teens, and the Moderna vaccine could soon receive authorization for adolescents as well.

Health experts say at least 70% to 85% of the U.S. population will need to be vaccinated in order to fully limit transmission of COVID-19.
