The much-loved music festival Coachella is returning this April without mask requirements. After a two-year pause during the pandemic, it was unclear how the festival would resume with Covid-19 infections still high.

Organizers of the festival announced this week, festival attendees will not be required to be tested for Covid-19, provide proof of vaccination or wear masks during the concert.

According to the Coachella website, “all attendees should evaluate their risk in determining whether to attend the festival. By entering the festival, attendees voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to Covid-19.”

The website also acknowledges public health concerns. The festival said that it is willing to change its rules dependent on public health concerns. “Changes to capacity, attendance procedures and entry requirements” may be considered if conditions merit it.
