Pro-Palestine protesters faced off with officers during a rally in a Columbia University library on May 7. Footage shows protesters appearing to push against safety officers blocking the door, as someone can be heard yelling with a megaphone, “Please, please stop pushing.” The group CU Apartheid Divest called for the “emergency rally” and said “over 100 actionists have reclaimed the main reading room as the Basil-Al-Araj Popular University.” The university stated that it was requesting identification from protesters and that “failure to comply will result in violations of our rules and policies and may lead to arrest,” according to a university message.
