Most Americans report disapproval of the U.S. Supreme Court following the leaked opinion draft that indicates the court’s likely ruling to reverse Roe v. Wade and return the right to states to decide where they stand on abortion.

According to the Marquette Law School poll, the Supreme Court’s approval rating has dropped to 44%, down 10% from March. Among Democrats, the percentage is all the way down to 26% approval which is an over 30% decrease since March.

The leaked opinion draft isn’t the only occurrence that has put the high court under the microscope lately. Ginni Thomas, the wife of Justice Clarence Thomas, drew criticism for a string of text messages she sent to the then-President Donald Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows in the days following the 2020 election. She urged him to do what he could to keep Trump in office.

“Help This Great President stand firm, Mark!!! … You are the leader, with him, who is standing for America’s constitutional governance at the precipice,” read a November 10, 2020 text message sent by Thomas. “The majority knows Biden and the Left are attempting the greatest Heist of our History.”
