Youngkin Says His Rally Should Not Have To Pledge Allegiance To American Flag From Capitol Riot
Republican Virginia gubernatorial candidate Glenn Youngkin said on Thursday that his supporters should not have pledged allegiance to an American flag flown at the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection at his recent rally.
“I wasn’t involved and so I don’t know,” Youngkin said. “But if that is the case, then we shouldn’t pledge allegiance to that flag. And oh by the way, I’ve been so clear, there is no place for violence—none, none—in America today.
Youngkin is locked into a tight race with Democratic nominee, former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe.
Former President Donald Trump has endorsed Youngkin for governor and spoke by phone at the rally.
