Shepard Smith Further Slams Fox News ‘I Don’t Know How They Sleep at Night’
Former Fox News host Shepard Smith has been outspoken about his former colleagues after his resignation last year. Smith is the former host of the Fox News’ show Shepard Smith Reporting, which was regularly hailed as the last bastion of unbiased content on the heavily opinion-based network. While a host for Fox, Smith was regularly tormented by his on-air colleagues for being “too liberal” and put up with viewers demanding his firing after he came out as gay. Since his resignation, Smith began as an anchor for CNBC.
Smith said in a recent interview that he is proud of the work he did while at Fox. Smith and other Fox News critics raised concerns about growing numbers of opinion pieces instead of traditional reporting.
“My goal was to keep the blinders on and do my job to the best of my ability,” Smith told Mediaite about his time at Fox. “I believe that when people begin with a false premise that’s injurious to society; and it’s the antithesis of what we should be doing. I don’t know how some people sleep at night. There are a lot of people who have propagated the lies … who are smart enough to know better. I hope that at some point that those who have done us harm as a nation and as a world will look around and realize what they have done, but I’m not holding my breath.”
