Trump May Donate $100 Million To His Campaign After Biden Out Raises Him By $155 Million In August
After the Biden campaign and the Democratic National Committee out raised the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee by $155 million for August, President Donald Trump reportedly may donate as much as $100 million to his own campaign.
Both campaigns have withheld releasing their cash-on-hand totals so far, but last month’s gap may mean that Democratic nominee Joe Biden may have closed Trump’s large cash advantage.
August’s vanishing cash advantage has alarmed the Republican Party, as the Trump campaign has come under screwtiny for how it has spent the hundreds of millions of dollars it raised from Trump’s inauguration until now.
GOP officials thought enough time for Trump to stymie Biden’s fundraising and noted that Trump still won in 2016 despite Democratic nominee Hilary Clinton out raising him.
Biden is averaging a 7- to 8-point lead over Trump after both parties held their national conventions last month in public polling.
