Donald Trump’s Sister, Maryanne Trump Barry, Called President A ‘Clown’ Who Has ‘No Principles,’ Niece’s Book Says
President Donald Trump‘s eldest sister, Maryanne Trump Barry, scoffed at his presidential bid and called him a “clown,” Mary Trump revealed in her tell-all memoir.
Mary, the niece of the president, wrote that no one expected Donald to win the 2016 election.
“I didn’t think Donald took it seriously. He simply wanted the free publicity for his brand,” she wrote in Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man, set to be released July 14. “When his poll numbers started to rise he may have received tacit assurances from Russian President Vladimir Putin that Russia would do everything it could to swing the election in his favor, the appeal of winning grew.”
Mary claims that her aunt Maryanne said he would “never” win.

She wrote: “He’s a clown’, my aunt Maryanne said during one of our regular lunches at the time. ”This will never happen”. I agreed.”
Maryanne, a retired federal judge and a devout Catholic since her conversion 50 years ago, was allegedly enraged when her brother began to receive support from the evangelical community.
“What the f*** is wrong with them?,” she reportedly told Mary. “The only time Donald went to church is when the cameras were there. It’s mind boggling. He has no principles. None!”
She also ridiculed Donald for his five bankruptcies, after Mary asked if anyone believes that “he’s a self-made man.”
Mary wrote, ‘”‘Well,’ Maryanne said, dry as the Saharan, ‘he has had five bankruptcies.'”
Maryanne was also upset by Donald using the death of his late brother, and Mary’s father, Fred Trump Jr. for “political purposes” when talking about the opioid crisis.
Fred Jr. died in 1981 after a long battle with alcoholism.
According to Mary, Maryanne said: “He’s using your father’s memory for political purposes, and that’s a sin, especially since Freddy should have been the star of the family.”
