Trump Says Non-Incandescent Light Bulbs Make Him ‘Look Orange’ [VIDEO]
While speaking to Republican House members in Baltimore Thursday, President Donald Trump told the audience that energy-efficient light bulbs make him “look orange.”
During a more than hour-long conference, the president made odd comments and what seemed to be jokes about green energy and conservation. When he got to talking about the Obama-era energy efficiency rules for light bulbs that he rolled back earlier this month, he blamed energy-efficient light bulbs for making him look “orange.”
“The light bulb. People said what’s with the light bulb? I said here’s the story,” said Trump, “and I looked at it, the bulb that we’re being forced to use, number one to me, most importantly, the light’s no good. I always look orange. And so do you. The light is the worst.”
These comments contradict the Department of Energy’s own statement, “By replacing your home’s five most frequently used light fixtures or bulbs with models that have earned the ENERGY STAR, you can save $75 each year,” the bulbs can use 25%-80% less energy than a regular incandescent bulb, with LED bulbs typically being the most energy efficient.”
The rules Obama laid out in his final days in office that would have taken effect in January 2020, would have required energy-efficient versions of some of the most commonly used light bulbs, which the Trump administration said would result in light bulb prices to skyrocket.
