Trump Called Supporters ‘Disgusting People,’ Said ‘Maybe COVID Is Good Thing,’ Former Pence Adviser Olivia Troye Says

On Thursday, Vice President Mike Pence‘s former senior adviser Olivia Troye appeared in an ad and called President Donald Trump a “stonewalling, capricious leader” for having more concern for his own reelection than the current pandemic. She added that she will be voting for Democratic nominee Joe Biden instead.

After leaving her post as Pence adviser on homeland security and counterterrorism, Troye shared stories of Trump’s dismissive attitude toward the administration’s efforts to contain the virus.

She said, “It was shocking to see the president saying that the virus was a hoax, saying that everything’s ok when we know that it’s not. He doesn’t actually care about anyone else but himself.”

Troye detailed how the president once stated, “Maybe this Covid thing’s a good thing. I don’t like shaking hands with people. I don’t have to shake hands with these disgusting people.”

The ad was released by a group of Republican voters who are against Trump.

The White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany tweeted a letter from Troye before she left his post. In the letter, Troye praised the Trump administration for effectively combatting the coronavirus.
