Justice Department Launches Criminal Investigation Of Former National Security Adviser John Bolton After Tell-All Book

Former national security adviser John Bolton is being criminally investigated by the Justice Department after allegedly releasing classified information in his new book, The Room Where It Happened. The investigation escalated when President Donald Trump attacked Bolton for his work at the White House and called for his prosecution.

The Justice Department sued Bolton to try to stop the release of his book, but failed. The judge rejected the claim that Bolton moved forward with the release before letting administrators review the and approve the book’s content.

Last month, the director of national intelligence brought the case back up to the Justice Department. John Demers, the head of national security, then launched an investigation.

The president and Bolton worked together to combat challenges posed by Iran and North Korea back in 2018. When Bolton disagreed with Trump, advising the president to think twice, on pursuing deals with “American enemies,” their relationship turned sour.

In Bolton’s memoir, he detailed Trump intervening in criminal investigations and seeking China’s help for his reelection.

Trump responded to Bolton’s allegations by asserting how the former adviser “broke the law” and “should be in jail, money seized, for disseminating, for profit, highly Classified information.”
