On Thursday afternoon, President-elect Joe Biden announced several high-profile nominations for his presidential cabinet. Biden’s historically diverse cabinet is now joined by Gov. Gina Raimondo (D-Rhode Island) as Commerce Secretary, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh as Labor Secretary, Isabel Guzman as the new head of the Small Business Administration and Don Graves as Deputy Commerce Secretary.
Instead of questions about his nominees, reporters at the event mostly asked the president-elect his thoughts on mounting demands for Trump’s impeachment or resignation. When directly asked, Biden made no comment on his personal feelings toward a Trump impeachment, but rather that, “What the Congress decides to do is for them to decide.”
Biden, however, was very quick to denounce the actions of Trump this week saying, “He has exceeded even my worst notions about him. He’s been an embarrassment for the country. He’s not worthy to hold the office.”
This week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) is making plans to move forward on a second impeachment, as Vice President Mike Pence seems increasingly unlikely to invoke the 25th amendment to remove Trump.
