2020 Candidates

Obama Going ‘Full-Throated’ For Biden Campaign, Endorses More Democratic Nominees

Former President Barack Obama announced the last round of 2020 endorsements, consisting of both Democratic senators and state legislators.

He expressed support for Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock, two Democratic nominees, in Georgia’s U.S. Senate races. On the other hand, Democrats have put more pressure on Matt Liberman, another Democrat candidate, to drop out of the race so that Warnock may advance to the runoffs in January.

Surveys showed that Warnock is in a neck-to-neck race with Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-Georgia) and Rep. Doug Collins (R-Georgia).

Obama has shown support for a total of eleven additional candidates as he urges the public the consider short and long-term stakes before the November election.

He commented, “They’re dedicated to shoring up and strengthening our democracy, a project that’s going to take time and require all of us—but it begins by electing Democrats right now.”

The Obama team is currently working with the National Democratic Redistricting Committee to rebalance the control of state legislatures through redistricting.

Additionally, Obama advisers are working with the Biden campaign to outline a busy campaign schedule before the closing month. Obama is expected to attend virtual fundraising events with presidential candidate Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-California).

One official said, “President Obama is going to be out in a full-throated way for him.”
