Donald Trump Claims Again That He Assisted At Ground Zero On 9/11

Wednesday marked the 18th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

President Donald Trump and wife Melania Trump assembled on the White House lawn to take part in a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. – the time the first plane, an American Airlines Boeing 767, crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center. The president attended the Washington commemoration to honor the fallen Flight 77 passengers, the third plane which hit the Pentagon.

Trump claimed he and a team of men witnessed the 9:03 a.m. second attack and immediately went to the scene.

The second flight, a United American Airlines aircraft, slammed into floors 77 through 85 of the southern tower. At 9:59 a.m., the tower collapsed.

“Soon after, I went down to Ground Zero with men who worked for me to try to help in any little way that we could,” he said. “We were not alone. So many others were scattered around trying to do the same. They were all trying to help.”

During a German TV interview two days following the attack, Trump claimed he had over 100 people attempting to help other people. “I have a lot of men down here right now,” he said. “We have over 100 and we have 125 coming. So we’ll have a couple of hundred people down here.”

However, a retired on-ground New York Deputy Fire Chief told the New York Times that he never saw or came across Trump or any of his efforts.
